From The Netherlands to Manila: building innovation together

At Menuez, our IT and DTP colleagues work together every day on great projects and innovations, even when there’s an ocean between them. Last week, we saw firsthand just how powerful it is to do that in person from time to time.

Our colleagues Emily and Shannon traveled to Manila to visit our three colleagues there. On the agenda was an intensive three-day training. But just as important: finally meeting each other in person again.

Over the course of these days, we discussed complex issues and ultimately ended up building actual production templates. This was a great and tangible outcome of the training. And by sitting down together around the table, insights emerged that would never have come to light so quickly via a video call.

Alongside the technical content, there was also plenty of room to learn about each other’s culture and the cultural differences in workplace communication. Of course, local treats couldn’t be missing: hagelslag and stroopwafels were exchanged for banana chips and pili nuts. The hospitality of our colleagues in Manila was heartwarming and the bond between the teams has only grown stronger.

It was a wonderful experience to work side by side with our remote colleagues for a few days. Not just to share knowledge and experience, but also to get to know each other better on a personal level. With a suitcase full of new ideas and energy, Emily and Shannon returned home yesterday.

Stay tuned for all the new innovations to come!
